Lady Anne Blunt is probably best known for her family connections and for her tempestuous marriage to the poet Wilfrid Scawen Blunt, with whom she travelled to the tribal regions of the Euphrates, to the Nejd and the Central Arabian Nafud desert. Anne sketched and wrote as she confronted the dangers of tribal warfare, painting watercolours in rare moments of peace. She is the first European woman to make a recorded journey to Central Arabia.
