The Abbasid Caliphate, centred around Baghdad and Samarra, reached its supremacy in the years 786-902 D (107-289 AH). It represents one of the most colourful periods in Arabian history. Abbasid Iraq underwent a dramatic economic metamorphosis which reflected upon all aspects of social life.
